• For patients with bipolar depression, do not use an antidepressant. Instead, you may use hydroxyzine, pregabalin, or benzodiazepines.
• The first-line treatments are SSRIs. Escitalopram and paroxetine are FDA-approved. Sertraline is also recommended as a possible first-line agent.
